#JCPodcast E11 – Craig Johnson

Aveley secretary and Isthmian League vice chairman Craig Johnson chats to JC about the Millers’ new £4.8million Parkside ground, the potential for the club going forward, why it was an emotional good bye to Mill Field, why he feels a ‘Thurrock Superclub’ would not work, the impending Isthmian League restructure, why Bishop’s Stortford might have missed out on an Isthmian place, the pros and cons of social media for non league clubs… and when the league will name a new sponsor.

  1. Craig is spot on about the merger. We struggle to get people to travel to Aveley from Grays to watch us and as he also said it’s about identity. I know the area and people who have moved from “outside” call the area Thurrock when asked where they live, but to those of us from there, it’s not really a real place, it’s a collection of towns and villages being bundled together for the sake of local government purposes.
